The Sunflower Project
Growing Smiles, One Sunflower at a Time!

The Sunflower Project is a fun and educational program for kids who are not old enough to join 4-H. Sponsored by Nelson Agri Center, this springtime activity gives young children a chance to plant, nurture, and show off their very own sunflowers!

Each participant receives sunflower seeds, soil, and a pot, all generously donated by Nelson Agri Center.

As the sunflowers grow, the excitement builds toward contest time! On opening night of fair each child’s sunflower is measured for height and head diameter, with ribbons awarded for the tallest sunflower and sunflower head. Each child also receives a special participation ribbon and swag bag.

It’s a perfect way to get little ones involved in nature, spark curiosity, and plant the seeds of learning—all while having fun!
